The American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) is the world’s largest patriotic service organization. Founded in 1919 alongside The American Legion. The ALA is a network of volunteers dedicated to supporting and honoring Veterans, Active-Duty Military, and their Families through Community Service, Advocacy, and Youth Programs.
Membership is open to the Spouses (Male or Female), Mothers, Sisters, Grandmothers and direct Female Descendants of Veterans who served during Eligible periods. Members volunteer at VA Medical Centers, host Military Family “Stand Downs”, and raise money to support disabled and homeless Veterans. Members also distribute red crepe paper Poppies to raise awareness and fund support for disabled and hospitalized Veterans, known as the “The Poppy Program”.
The ALA also sponsors highly respected Patriotic programs, such as The Girls State and Girls Nation, that teach young women about Government and Civic Leadership. The ALA also funds multiple Scholarships for veterans’ children and Youth pursuing higher Education.
The ALA supports the American Legion and honors the sacrifice of those who have served, Active-Duty and their families, both at home and abroad.
For God and Country, the ALA advocates for Veterans, Active-Duty, and their families, and mentors youth and promotes patriotism.
